What you'll do:

We are seeking an Manager Software Engineer to lead the strategic initiatives within the Data Foundation Services team in Business Data Cloud. This role is critical in accelerating the development and adoption of seamless, low-latency integration patterns across SAP applications and the BDC data fabric. As a hands-on technical leader, you will guide a team of senior engineers focused on building and driving architectural direction, oversee key integration frameworks and provide hands-on leadership in building real-time, event-driven and secure communication across a distributed enterprise landscape. You'll bring deep technical expertise in Java, Python, ETL, distributed data processing, Kafka, Cloud-native Development, DevOps, Real-Time Analytics, Intelligent Monitoring, BTP and Hyperscaler ecosystems while also mentoring teams and collaborating closely with stakeholders across SAP's data platform initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the evolution of ETL pipelines and real-time data processing systems to support scalable, low-latency data flows across SAP's platforms.
• Own end-to-end delivery the strategic initiatives within the Data Foundation Services integration components and services using Java, Apache Kafka, RESTful APIs and modern data pipelines.
• Accelerate the strategic initiatives within the Data Foundation Services integration roadmap by identifying reusable patterns, driving platform automation and establishing best practices.
• Drive and design UI based on SAP UI5/Fiori other tools
• Drive and design Observability Framework for Customer Insights
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects and global engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical execution plans
• Drive the integration of modern data engineering tools such as Databricks, Spark or similar technologies to enrich and accelerate data workflows.
• Ensure the team delivers robust, secure and performant services with strong observability, testing and monitoring in place.
• Support cross-product integration initiatives with other SAP data platform efforts including SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud and BDC runtime services.
• Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, learning, accountability and innovation.

What you bring:

• 10 to 16 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Java, with strong object-oriented design and integration patterns.
• Min 2+ years of mandatory managerial experience is desirable
• Proven experience in designing and building ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing frameworks.
• Proven experience with Log Aggregator Tools like Splunk, ELK , etc.
• Hands-on experience or experimentation with Databricks, Spark or other data engineering platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong familiarity of Hyperscaler environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise software environments, ideally involving SAP applications or data platforms
• Proficient with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud or HANA is highly desirable.
• Strong familiarity of Hyperscaler environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across global, cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to build, retain and lead diverse, high-performing engineering teams in an agile, fast-paced environment.
