About the Role:
Cheesewalk is seeking an experienced
Fabric Merchandiser / Women's Garment Merchandiser
to work on a freelance basis. This role involves sourcing, negotiating, and managing fabrics and trims for our women's wear collections, coordinating with vendors and suppliers, and ensuring high-quality production that aligns with brand standards and timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Source fabrics, trims, and accessories for women's apparel as per seasonal requirements
- Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers to meet budget and delivery goals
- Coordinate with pattern masters, sampling units, and production teams to ensure accurate execution
- Conduct quality checks for fabrics and final garments before production
- Maintain detailed records of sourcing, costing, and approvals
- Track orders with mills/suppliers and follow up for timely delivery
- Liaise with factories to address any technical or production-related issues
- Stay updated with market trends, fabric innovations, and new suppliers
- Support in developing swatch libraries and seasonal mood boards
Requirements & Skills:
- Proven experience as a fabric merchandiser or garment merchandiser, preferably in women's wear
- Strong vendor network in fabric and trims sourcing
- Knowledge of fabric types, compositions, and garment construction
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Organised, detail-oriented, and solution-focused
- Based in Mumbai (preferred) for ease of coordination
