Position Overview
The Assurance Principal for Plante Moran's Mumbai office will play a crucial role in establishing and managing the assurance operations, ensuring seamless coordination with the United States-based offices. This leadership position involves strategic planning, staffing, training, and collaboration with various service lines and industry groups to deliver high-quality assurance services.
Your role.
Your Work Will Include, But Not Be Limited To
- Hiring Audit Staff: Recruit and onboard audit staff for the India Assurance practice, ensuring they meet Plante Moran's standards and possess the necessary skills and expertise.
- Developing Processes and Procedures: Design and implement processes and procedures to ensure efficient collaboration between the Mumbai office and Plante Moran's U.S.-based offices. This includes delivering assurance services in accordance with Plante Moran's quality standards.
- Collaboration with U.S. Central Standards and Industry Technical Audit Colleagues: Work closely with colleagues in the U.S. central standards industry technical audit teams to align processes, methodologies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Training and Development Initiatives: Lead technical training programs and development initiatives for Mumbai assurance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, quality and accountability, and professional growth. Individual would be expected to (a) have extensive experience and understanding of financial reporting requirements under US GAAP. (b) Guide team members on technical areas of high risk & complexity. (c) Mentor and coach team on technical aspects and on soft skills.
- Managing Staff Capacity: Monitor and manage Mumbai assurance staff capacity to ensure optimal resource utilization, balancing workloads and maintaining productivity.
- Delivering Developmental Feedback and Assessments: Provide regular feedback and performance assessments to Mumbai assurance staff, guiding their professional development and career progression.
- Coordinating Service Delivery: Coordinate assurance service delivery with various industry groups, maintaining high standards and consistency across all engagements.
The Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or related field.
- CA required, US CPA preferred.
- Minimum 13 + years in Audit and Assurance services with public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Benefit Plan Audits preferred.
- Deep understanding of US GAAP, PCAOB, and GAAS standards; IFRS experience is a plus. .
- Prior demonstration of developing and leading an assurance team and working with teams across US offices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week.
