Consultant - Rail Modelling & Simulation

- As a Consultant - Rail Modelling and Simulation at GCC, you will be part of a group that is a trusted advisory and delivery partner to transport businesses and governments both in the UK and overseas. You will work alongside rail operational consultants, engineers to develop analytical and visual models that demonstrate how rail systems can be operated.
- The role requires demonstrated experience in Agent based Modelling, with AnyLogic software experience, strategic and critical thinking together with understanding of how a railway system can be operated to deliver the outcomes of moving people and goods to deliver social, economic, and environmental value and help our clients solve the most complex rail transportation problems.
- Working collaboratively as part of a team to develop innovative solutions to complex rail problems.
- Scoping out project modelling requirements and undertaking data analysis/preparation.
- Developing or enhancing AnyLogic models in accordance with our Quality Assurance processes to deliver project outcomes to time and budget.
- Assisting to produce clearly written, concise and professional quality reports and proposals to our clients.
- Sharing lessons learned and knowledge with the team, engaging in development opportunities across projects, team meetings and through industry engagements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Computer Science Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in planning, analyzing, designing, applying, evaluating and developing simulation models & innovative solutions to solve the complex problems in the rail transportation or similar industry.
- Proficiency in Any Logic software.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Familiar with engineering design software, simulation software, coding, debugging, and data analysis tools.
- Strong in data analysis, interpretation, attention to detail and problem solving.
- An ability to reason logically and apply a systematic process to finding solutions, proactive in responding to problems, able to apply sound logic in situations of ambiguity and problem-solving methodologies across a range of circumstances.
- Actively champion sharing knowledge, ideas, and intelligence. Strong presentation skills influential and persuasive internally and externally, encouraging open dialogue and feedback.
- A forward-thinking mindset, capable of visualising and planning for the longer term.
- Knowledge of the rail sector and rail operational planning and/or experience with building and simulating rail models would be an advantage.
