GIS Technician

Key Responsibilities:

• Capture, manage, and analyze geospatial data from various sources such as satellite imagery, GPS, and field surveys
• Create, edit, and maintain maps, layers, and databases using GIS software (such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD Map, etc.)
• Perform georeferencing, digitization, topology correction, and data validation
• Prepare thematic maps and spatial reports for internal teams or client deliverables
• Coordinate with survey teams and data collection personnel to ensure data accuracy and completeness
• Support project teams in integrating GIS data with MIS, ERP, or other business systems
• Troubleshoot GIS-related issues and provide technical assistance as required
• Ensure that data is maintained in accordance with project requirements and quality standards

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in GIS software: ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms
• Good understanding of spatial data formats, projections, and coordinate systems
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, GPS devices, and remote sensing techniques
• Familiarity with Excel and database management tools (e.g., MS Access, SQL)
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Geography, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Certification or training in GIS applications is an added advantage

Experience:

• 0–2 years of experience in GIS mapping, data processing, or related fields
• Freshers with relevant academic projects or internships are encouraged to apply
