Role Summary

We are looking for a Database SRE to support MSSQL workloads on Azure. This is a hands-on role focused on reliability, performance, and incident resolution, with regular interaction with onsite counterparts and customer stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support MSSQL databases for production and non-prod environments on Azure.
  • Troubleshoot and tune queries, jobs, indexing, and resource usage (CPU, memory, IO, storage).
  • Implement and maintain backups, restores, HA/DR, and routine DB maintenance.
  • Use T-SQL and scripts for investigations, reporting, and controlled data fixes under change control.
  • Participate in incident response, perform initial analysis, contribute to RCAs, and update runbooks/KBs.
  • Support releases and hotfixes involving DB schema or data changes, including validation.
  • Collaborate closely with onsite DB SREs, application teams, and SRE/platform teams, providing clear and timely communication on issues and progress.
  • Join customer/onsite calls when required to explain technical findings and next steps.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years in MS SQLcentric roles (DBA / Production Support / SRE) in 247 environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MSSQL T-SQL, performance tuning, SQL jobs, stored procedures, HA/DR.
  • Experience running SQL workloads on Azure (VMs and/or Azure SQL, backups to Azure storage).
  • Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD tools (Git, GitLab/Jenkins, Terraform/Puppet, automation scripts).
  • Good understanding of Windows Server as a DB hosting platform.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across performance, availability, and storage issues.
  • Willingness and ability to work in night shifts to support US time zones
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and comfort working with onsite teams and customer stakeholders.
