About the Role :We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our AI/ML initiative focused on predicting alarms from sensor data in complex refinery environments. This role will lead the development of predictive models using time series sensor data, maintenance logs, and integrate with domain experts (expert-in-the-loop) to enhance model accuracy and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, model observability, and real-time performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop machine learning models for anomaly detection and alarm prediction from multi-source time series data (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow sensors).
  • Collaborate with domain experts in an Expert-in-the-Loop (EITL) framework to validate and refine predictions.
  • Implement data preprocessing and feature engineering techniques for large-scale IoT and log data.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams for scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines (batch and streaming).
  • Define and track AI observability metrics (drift, SHAP, confidence intervals) and participate in root cause analysis of false positives/negatives.
  • Contribute to model retraining strategies, MLOps workflows, and model versioning in production.

Job Description:Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in applied Data Science or Machine Learning roles.
  • Proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensor Flow, PyTorch.
  • Hands-on experience with time series modeling, forecasting, or anomaly detection (e.g., ARIMA, LSTM, Prophet, Autoencoder-based models).
  • Strong experience working with sensor/IoT data, ideally in manufacturing, energy, or industrial domains.
  • Experience in data wrangling and ETL, especially using Pandas, Pyspark, or SQL.
  • Solid understanding of ML interpretability and explainability techniques.
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Seldon, SageMaker) and data observability platforms (e.g., Monte Carlo, Data band).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial automation domains.
  • Understanding of SCADA systems, sensor network structures, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS/GCP/Azure and deployment of AI pipelines.
