We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Android Platform Engineer to join our team in

Bangalore. This role is for a senior professional with a strong background in the Android Open Source

Project (AOSP) and a deep understanding of the Android system architecture. The ideal candidate

will have 7-12 years of experience in customizing, extending, and optimizing the Android framework.

Responsibilities

  • Customize and Extend Android Framework: Modify and extend core Android framework

components like the Activity Manager, Package Manager, and other system services to meet

product requirements.

  • System Service and AOSP Integration: Work directly with the AOSP to implement system

service modifications, create custom builds, and integrate new features at the platform level.

  • Hardware Abstraction and Integration: Integrate and maintain the Android HAL (Hardware

Abstraction Layer) and JNI (Java Native Interface) layers to bridge the gap between

hardware and software components.

  • System-Level Debugging: Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues using a

variety of tools, including ADB (Android Debug Bridge), Logcat, and systrace.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware and application teams to ensure

seamless feature integration and optimal performance.

  • Performance Optimization: Focus on performance tuning, memory optimization, and battery

life improvements across the Android platform.

  • Build and Update Management: Manage OTA (Over-The-Air) updates and maintain build

system configurations to ensure a robust and reliable software delivery process.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7-12 years of professional experience in Android platform development and

AOSP.

  • Skills:
  • Deep expertise in the Android system architecture and framework.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Java, and Kotlin.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with tools like ADB and Logcat.
  • Experience with Android HAL, JNI, and system services.
  • Familiarity with build systems (e.g., Make, Soong/Blueprint).
  • Knowledge of performance and memory optimization techniques.
  • Location: This is an in-office role based in Bangalore.
