Job Title: SolidWorks Design Engineer – Sheet Metal Fabrication

Location: Chennai

Department: Design & Engineering

Reporting to: Design Head

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented SolidWorks Design Engineer with strong experience in sheet metal fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and detailing components, assemblies, and fabrication drawings, ensuring manufacturability and accuracy as per customer specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using SolidWorks for sheet metal parts and assemblies.
  • Create flat patterns, bend tables, and detailed drawings suitable for laser cutting, punching, and bending operations.
  • Review customer drawings/specifications and translate them into manufacturing-ready designs.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) and maintain design documentation.
  • Implement design modifications and engineering change requests efficiently.
  • Optimize designs for material utilization, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with quality and production teams for prototype validation and fit-up trials.
  • Ensure adherence to tolerances, GD&T, and industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication design.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (mandatory) – including sheet metal, weldment, and assembly modules.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, and finishing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, BOM management, and design documentation practices.
  • Ability to interpret and convert customer drawings / models into manufacturable designs.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Added Advantage):

  • Experience in AutoCAD or other 3D CAD tools.
  • Exposure to design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15, ₹20,000.00 per month
