Network Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our growing network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in routing, switching, and network security fundamentals, with hands-on experience in multi-vendor environments. This role is responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from planning and deployment to troubleshooting and documentation, ensuring the network is reliable, scalable, and secure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and deploy LAN/WAN network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and other hardware from vendors like Cisco, Arista, and Juniper.
  • Implement and manage core routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, and switching technologies including VLANs, STP, and LACP.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VPNs (IPsec and SSL/TLS) and fundamental firewall policies.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) to ensure network health and performance.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation and manage IP address infrastructure using tools like Net Box.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams on projects and provide Tier 3 support for complex network issues escalated from the NOC.
  • Automate routine tasks and configurations using basic scripting with Python or Bash.
  • Manage incidents and service requests through ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years in a Network Engineer role.
  • Routing & Switching: Deep expertise in Cisco IOS/NX-OS or Arista EOS; proficiency with BGP and OSPF.
  • LAN Technologies: Strong understanding of VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, and Ether Channel.
  • Security: Hands-on experience with firewall fundamentals (Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco ASA) and VPN technologies.
  • Monitoring: Experience with network monitoring platforms like SolarWinds, PRTG, or Nagios.
  • Scripting: Basic proficiency in Python or Bash for automation.
  • Tools: Familiarity with Net Box or other IPAM tools; experience with ServiceNow or Jira.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
