Overview The Mechanical Quality Engineer in the pressure vessel industry plays a critical role in ensuring that all products meet strict safety and quality standards. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of pressure vessels, which are required to operate under high pressure and demanding conditions. The Mechanical Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to develop and implement rigorous testing protocols and quality control measures. By validating product performance and compliance with industry specifications, this role directly impacts the reliability and safety of pressure vessels used across various applications, including oil & gas, power generation, and chemical processing. In addition, the engineer will utilize their expertise to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization, ensuring that the company not only meets but exceeds quality expectations. This proactive approach is vital in enhancing customer satisfaction, reducing operational costs, and ensuring compliance with international standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs for pressure vessel fabrication.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on incoming materials and components.
  • Analyze testing results and document findings thoroughly.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports and quality control plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and improve processes.
  • Perform audits of production processes to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Evaluate and interpret design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify root causes of defects and develop corrective actions.
  • Conduct failure analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Review and approve vendor qualifications and quality performance.
  • Lead training sessions on quality standards and procedures for team members.
  • Ensure proper use of statistical techniques for monitoring and control.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and new technologies related to quality engineering.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance, preferably in the pressure vessel industry.
  • Strong understanding of ASME standards and pressure vessel design codes.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in inspection and testing methodologies for pressure vessels.
  • Knowledge of materials science, specifically concerning metals and welding.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical process control (SPC).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Proven ability to work in a team and interact with cross-functional departments.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma are a plus.
  • Proficiency with quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier facilities and job sites as required.
