Job Description – Snowflake Data EngineerRole Overview

We are looking for an experienced
Snowflake Data Engineer

to design, develop, and optimise  cloud data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building data pipelines, modelling data for analytics, and ensuring high performance and reliability within the Snowflake ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities1. Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake, SQL, and cloud-native tools (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Develop data ingestion processes from structured and semi-structured sources (JSON, CSV, Parquet, APIs, etc.).
  • Implement data transformation logic using Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and Stored Procedures.

2. Snowflake Platform Expertise

  • Design and optimise Snowflake schemas (Star/Snowflake models).
  • Manage Snowflake features including Virtual Warehouses, Time-Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, and Data Sharing.
  • Implement performance tuning: clustering keys, query optimisation, cost optimisation.

3. Data Governance & Quality

  • Develop and maintain data quality checks and validation rules.
  • Implement security best practices: RBAC, masking policies, row-level security.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance standards and audit requirements.

4. Collaboration & Architecture

  • Work closely with data architects, analysts, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Support BI/reporting teams with optimised datasets.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices for the Snowflake data platform.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Snowflake Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in
    Snowflake

, SQL, and data modelling.
- Hands-on with
Snowpipe

, Streams, Tasks, DBT (optional but preferred).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Proficiency in building ETL/ELT frameworks using tools such as
Airflow, Glue, ADF, or similar

.
- Knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning and cost optimisation in Snowflake.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SnowPro Certification (Core or Advanced).
  • Experience with CI/CD for data engineering.
  • Exposure to Kafka/Kinesis or streaming data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Data Vault, Lakehouse architecture, or MPP systems.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
