Job Summary

The Hospital Financial Counselor assists patients and their families in understanding the hospital's billing process, available financial packages, insurance coverage, and payment options. The role ensures that patients are well-informed about treatment costs and financial assistance programs, helping them make informed decisions and reduce financial stress during their care journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel patients and families about the hospital's various financial packages, health plans, and payment schemes.
  • Explain estimated treatment costs, insurance coverage, and billing procedures in a clear and compassionate manner.
  • Assist patients in understanding and selecting the most suitable financial plan based on their medical and financial situation.
  • Coordinate with the billing, insurance, and admissions departments to ensure accurate financial information is shared with patients.
  • Guide patients through the application process for discounts, subsidies, or financial aid programs offered by the hospital.
  • Maintain accurate patient financial records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Provide daily support to the front office and admissions teams in verifying insurance and payment details.
  • Handle patient queries and concerns regarding bills, charges, and payment methods in a professional manner.
  • Stay updated on hospital pricing, package changes, and government or insurance reimbursement schemes.
