Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
- Dispense prescribed medications, ensuring correct dosage, labelling, and directions for use.
- Provide patient counselling on proper medication use, possible side effects, and drug interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed and ensure secure storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to discuss treatment plans and drug therapies.
- Monitor patients for side effects and efficacy of prescribed medications.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including proper documentation and inventory control.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and contribute to clinical audits as required.
- Manage inventory and place orders to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Train and supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, as applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or Pharm.D).
- Valid license to practice as a Pharmacist from the relevant regulatory authority.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, including indications, side effects, and contraindications.
- Familiarity with prescription software and pharmacy management systems.
