Network Engineer Fortinet Firewall Migration (23 Years Experience)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a Fortinet Firewall Migration Project. The role requires strong FortiGate CLI expertise, FortiManager (FMG) skills, and solid knowledge of BGP, VPNs, NAT, and firmware management. The engineer will ensure smooth migrations, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain high standards of network security and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute Fortinet firewall migrations across multiple sites.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize firewalls via FortiGate CLI.
- Manage policies and backups using FortiManager.
- Troubleshoot BGP routing, IPSec/SSL VPNs, NAT, and routing tables.
- Perform firmware upgrades/downgrades with rollback readiness.
- Monitor logs via FortiAnalyzer/Splunk and resolve security/performance issues.
- Collaborate with IT/security teams during migration windows.
- Document configurations, migration plans, and network diagrams.
- Support post-migration stabilization and handover.
Required Skills:
- 23 years' hands-on experience in networking/firewall administration.
- Strong FortiGate & FortiManager expertise with CLI proficiency.
- Experience in BGP, VPNs (IPSec/SSL), NAT, VLANs, and HA setups.
- Firmware management on Fortinet devices.
- Log analysis with Splunk.
- CCNA (or equivalent knowledge).
Preferred:
- Fortinet NSE 4+ certification.
- Enterprise firewall migration experience.
- Exposure to HA and zero trust architectures.
- Familiarity with Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetBrain.
Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
- Clear communication, teamwork, and process orientation.
- Flexibility to work in migration/maintenance windows.
