Job Summary: The RDC Incharge is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of all distribution center operations. This key leadership role ensures the efficient, safe, and cost-effective receiving, storage, inventory control, and timely shipment of goods to internal and external customers, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operations and Efficiency Management

  2. Oversee Daily Operations: Direct all aspects of the distribution center, including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, staging, and shipping to meet daily volume targets and service level agreements (SLAs).

  3. Process Optimization: Analyze operational data and KPIs (e.g., labor costs, productivity, order accuracy, on-time delivery) to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S) to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  4. WMS & Technology: Ensure effective utilization and proficiency of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other material handling technology to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and operational flow.
  5. Resource Allocation: Plan and manage facility layout, space utilization, and the deployment of MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and personnel to maximize productivity.

  6. Inventory and Quality Control

  7. Inventory Accuracy: Implement and manage robust inventory control procedures, including cycle counting programs and physical inventories, to achieve and maintain target accuracy levels.

  8. Quality Assurance: Establish and monitor quality control checks for both inbound and outbound shipments to ensure product integrity, correct counts, and accurate order fulfillment.
  9. Damage Control: Develop strategies and procedures to minimize product damage and shrinkage within the facility.

  10. Team Leadership and Management

  11. Personnel Management: Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop a high-performing distribution center team, including supervisors and hourly associates.

  12. Performance: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
  13. Culture: Foster a positive, engaging, and high-accountability work environment that promotes teamwork and adherence to company values.

  14. Safety and Compliance

  15. Safety Culture: Champion and enforce a proactive safety culture. Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations, particularly OSHA standards.

  16. Training & Audits: Oversee regular safety training for all associates and conduct frequent safety audits and inspections of the facility and equipment.
  17. Security: Manage facility security protocols to protect company assets, prevent theft, and control access.

  18. Financial and Budget Management

  19. Budgeting: Develop, manage, and adhere to the annual operating and capital expenditure budgets for the RDC.

  20. Cost Control: Monitor and control variable costs, including labor, utilities, and MHE maintenance, to ensure operations remain within budget.
  21. Forecasting: Assist in forecasting labor and capacity needs based on sales forecasts and seasonal demand changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Post Graduation in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive management experience within a high-volume Distribution Center, Warehouse, or Logistics environment.
  • Technical Skills: Deep proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and supply chain analytics.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading, motivating, and developing large teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Relevant certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or OSHA certification are a plus.
