Job Title: Regional Sales Manager – Retail

Department: Sales

Location: South India

Reports To: Head - Retail Sales & Exports

Position Summary:

The Regional Sales Manager – Retail will be responsible for managing and driving retail sales operations within the assigned region. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, expanding market share, improving retail visibility, and ensuring effective execution of trade and promotional plans through a strong distribution network and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Achievement & Market Expansion

  • Deliver regional retail sales targets as per the business plan.
  • Drive numeric and weighted distribution across general trade, modern trade, and bakery retail channels.
  • Identify and onboard new distributors and retail partners to enhance market reach.
  • Implement effective retail visibility and merchandising initiatives.

2. Team Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Territory Sales Executive & Area Sales Manager
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, field coaching, and skill development sessions.
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies, systems, and reporting norms.

3. Channel & Distributor Management

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with distributors and key retail accounts.
  • Monitor secondary sales, stock availability, and order fulfillment.
  • Drive efficient trade promotions and schemes to boost sales.
  • Ensure timely collections and effective credit management.

4. Market Execution & Reporting

  • Ensure excellent market execution, product placement, and visibility as per brand guidelines.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare and share weekly/monthly MIS, business performance reports, and forecasts.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to align on sales objectives, promotions, and stock planning.
  • Provide on-ground feedback to marketing and product teams for improving product performance and launch strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Business, Sales, or Marketing.
  • 8–12 years of experience in retail sales within FMCG / Bakery / Food industry, with at least 3 years in a regional leadership role.
  • Strong exposure to distributor management and retail operations.
