Senior Technician

1. Primary Responsibilities:

2. Execute manual layup of carbon fiber prepregs in complex male/female moulds.

3. Ensure fiber orientation, layer stacking sequence, and ply count are as per the layup drawings.
4. Perform vacuum bagging of laminates with release films, breathers, and vacuum pump and ports.
5. Prepare moulds and accurately close mould assemblies for hydraulic hot press/Autoclave operations.
6. Able to Operate and monitor hydraulic hot press/Autoclave equipment as per programmed curing cycles (temperature/pressure/time ramps).
7. Validate pressure and temperature profiles using thermocouples and data loggers.
8. Conduct precise trimming using mechanical tools or CNC routing as required.
9. Ensure finished parts meet thickness, surface finish, and dimensional specifications.
10. Perform first article inspections (FAI), visual checks, thickness measurements, and porosity assessment.
11. Document processing parameters, deviations, and traceability data following internal QA protocols.
12. Assist in root cause analysis of defects and contribute to continuous improvement.
13. Maintaining cleanliness and FOD-free environment for critical surface parts.
14. Guide and train junior technicians and operators in CFRP processing and safety.
15. Support implementation of process SOPs and 5S practices on the shop floor.

2. Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Strong understanding of vacuum bagging techniques, curing cycle, and composite material behavior.
• Familiarity with CNC trimming, surface preparation, surface inspection tools, and working with tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of safety standards, MSDS, and thermal handling of materials.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, layup schedules, and process instructions.
• Experience with UD/BD laminates, PMI/PET/PU Foams, and multi-material stack-ups.
• Understanding of cleanroom protocols, especially for high-surface-finish components.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Able to work in shifts as per the production schedule.

3. Qualifications / Experience:

• Diploma / ITI / Composite Technology / Tool & Die / Aerospace or relevant discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in composite part manufacturing using prepreg layup and hot press/autoclave processes.
