Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce precision metal or plastic components according to drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate VMC machines (3-axis / 4-axis as applicable)
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Load programs and make basic edits if required
  • Select, install, and set cutting tools and offsets
  • Monitor machining operations to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Measure components using instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface finish
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning
  • Identify and report machine or process issues
  • Follow safety rules and workplace standards

Preferred candidate profile

Required Skills :

  • ITI / Diploma / relevant technical qualification (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of CNC/VMC operations
  • Understanding of G-codes and M-codes (preferred)
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, fixtures, and materials
  • Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
