Role Overview

The Web Developer will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of the DD TIMES24 News website and related digital properties. This role requires a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies, with a focus on creating a fast, reliable, secure, and user-friendly experience for millions of readers. You will work closely with the editorial, design, and IT teams to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the website can handle high traffic loads, especially during breaking news events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust, high-performance, and scalable web applications for the news platform.
  • Implement user-friendly and responsive
    Front-End
    interfaces using modern
    HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
    frameworks (e.g., React, , or Angular).
  • Work with
    Back-End
    technologies to manage data, APIs, and content management systems (CMS), with a preference for experience in
    WordPress
    or a similar publishing-focused CMS.
  • Optimize website performance for speed, SEO, and cross-browser/device compatibility.
  • Collaborate with the design team to translate mockups and wireframes into high-quality code.
  • Ensure website security and data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Web Developer or similar role, preferably within the media, publishing, or high-traffic web industry.
  • Proficiency in
    HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/LESS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, , Angular).
  • Solid understanding of Back-End development
    and database management (
    SQL/NoSQL
    ).
  • Demonstrable experience with
    CMS development and customisation, ideally WordPress.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    responsive design principles
    and web performance optimisation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree
    in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Knowledge of

    and implementation.
