Cyber Security Data Loss Prevention

The Cyber Security Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Specialist will be responsible for leading the organization's Data Loss Prevention strategy, ensuring effective handling the identification and monitoring of potential data leakage vulnerabilities. The specialist develops and updates policies to regulate how sensitive information, such as financial records or personally identifiable information (PII), can be used and transferred. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain DLP plans, conduct regular security reviews and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and enhance data protection strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement data loss prevention (DLP) strategies and policies, including defining rules and configurations tailored to the organization's risk profile to protect sensitive information.
- Implement and manage DLP tools and technologies (such as Microsoft Purview or Netskope) to monitor data flow across the environment, enforce security policies, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor DLP systems and alerts to identify potential data exfiltration or policy violations, perform root cause analysis, and assess the severity and impact of events.
- Investigate and respond to DLP incidents by collaborating with IT, security, and business stakeholders to contain threats, resolve incidents, and mitigate risks.
- Analyze and remediate data loss events by identifying contributing factors, addressing vulnerabilities, and implementing preventive measures to strengthen data protection.
- Continuously improve DLP processes by evaluating event metrics, fine-tuning detection methods, reducing false positives, and enhancing monitoring and response effectiveness.
- Support security awareness and compliance efforts by providing employee training, participating in risk assessments and audits, and staying current on emerging cybersecurity threats and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
Required:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: 3–4 years of hands-on experience in data loss prevention (DLP), including proven success in developing and implementing DLP policies and controls.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient with DLP solutions such as Microsoft Purview and/or Netskope, with additional experience using Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, and related security technologies.
- Compliance Knowledge: Strong awareness of regulatory and compliance frameworks such as PCI, ISO, NIST, and SANS, with the ability to align DLP practices to organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Cybersecurity Competence: Solid understanding of cyber threats, attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and insider threat risks, enabling proactive prevention and detection strategies.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate complex security events, identify root causes, and recommend effective remediation strategies.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with demonstrated capacity to work effectively under pressure, adapt to fast-paced environments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Experience we consider a plus:
- Experience within the Telecommunication or Software Development Sector.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GCSIRT, GCIA, or similar are desirable but not required.
