Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate mechanical and hydraulic press machines for sheet metal and component forming.
  • Set up tools, dies, and fixtures as per job requirements.
  • Conduct first-piece inspection and ensure product quality as per specifications.
  • Maintain machine settings and perform minor adjustments when required.
  • Monitor machine performance and report any abnormalities or breakdowns immediately.
  • Follow daily production schedules and meet target output efficiently.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, PPE usage, and housekeeping (5S) in the work area.
  • Record production data and maintain basic documentation for traceability.
  • Support preventive maintenance and assist maintenance teams during machine servicing.
  • Implement Kaizen and continuous improvement activities on the shop floor.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of mechanical press operation (Power press, Pneumatic press, Hydraulic press).
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and measurement tools (Vernier, Micrometer).
  • Understanding of quality parameters and inspection methods.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and tooling issues.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, 5S, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Teamwork, discipline, and good communication skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Turner, or Tool & Die.
  • Experience: 13 years of experience operating press machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in automotive / precision component / sheet metal industry.
