Position: Full-stack Developer

Location: Berkowits (Okhla Phase 3, Delhi)

Reports To: Leadership

Role Summary

As a Fullstack Developer at Berkowits, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our existing PHP-based infrastructure while driving the migration toward a headless architecture. You will collaborate with UI developers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver clean, scalable solutions that improve performance and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance existing PHP-based systems.

Collaborate with frontend developers to implement and evolve our applications.

Design and develop microservices and REST APIs for core business modules (Authentication, CRM, Customer Profiles, etc.).

Build and integrate APIs for e-commerce workflows using Shopify.

Participate in server operations and deployments (Linux environments, staging setups, backups).

Follow best practices in code quality, documentation, and Git version control workflows.

Required Skills & Competencies

PHP (Core or Laravel): Strong grasp of backend programming, debugging, and legacy code maintenance.

Shopify: Comfortable with customizing themes, apps, or APIs for e-commerce flows.

React / Proficiency in building dynamic interfaces, routing, and API integrations.

Experience in Express or NestJS for RESTful API development.

MySQL: Deep understanding of queries, joins, and performance tuning.

MongoDB (NoSQL): Experience with schema design, aggregations, and performance optimization.

Git: Familiarity with branching strategies, pull requests, and basic CI/CD workflows.

Linux Hosting (VPS/GoDaddy): Basic server management via SSH, file handling, cron jobs.

Preferred (Good-to-Have) Skills

Laravel Framework for structured PHP projects.

TypeScript for safer, more robust code on both frontend and backend.

GraphQL: Exposure to headless data queries and API consumption.

DevOps Awareness: Experience or knowledge of Docker, AWS services, and CI/CD practices.

E-commerce Knowledge: Understanding of cart, checkout, coupon, inventory, and user flows.

Career Progression Timeline

03 Months: Take ownership of the existing PHP backend and begin supporting the React migration.

36 Months: Contribute to building and deploying core + MongoDB services.

612 Months: Actively participate in transitioning to a full headless frontend stack.

1218 Months: Grow into a Technical Lead role, with influence over hiring, architecture, and technology choices.
