The Technical Information Solutions (TIS) team within Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD)

creates and delivers technical parts and service information accessible via SIS and SIS2GO critical for the repair and service of Caterpillar products. Over 300,000 dealer and customer users depend on the information created, managed, and delivered by this team to identify and order Cat parts.

As a Parts Information Project Leader, you will be leading and coordinating the Parts Information teams engaged in the creation, management, delivery, and business support of parts information in SIS and SIS2GO. You will be accountable to deliver New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) and Revision projects for assigned products, ensuring the completed projects meet customer expectations for content, accuracy and timeliness.

What You Will Do:

• Lead a work group comprised of Parts Information Authors and Coordinators to complete Parts Manuals for assigned NPI, CPI, and Revision projects.
• Make specific project assignments to work group members using appropriate authoring tools.
• Review day-to-day work to ensure work group members complete assignments on time and information is technically accurate and complete.
• Collaborate with Product Groups, Authorizations, and Dealers to ensure appropriate parts information is provided.
• Guide and assist work group in gathering information from various sources to ensure parts counter and service technicians have the parts information needed to order the correct part the first time.
  Act as key communicator to staff and management for Parts Authoring processes. Serve on appropriate teams to document, evaluate, establish new or change existing PID benchmarks, strategies, procedures, guidelines, and standards. Identify, evaluate, and recommend authoring and delivery process improvements and software enhancements.

What You Have

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of authoring and graphics software and applications including Arbortext Content Management (ACM), Canvas, Vis Mockup, Teamcenter and SIS2.0. Meets or exceeds performance expectations for Parts information creation and quality. Develops and provides solutions to significant technical challenges. Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

Service Excellence: Provides effective responses to product group requests for NPI/CPI programs and interactions with a sense of urgency and positive action. Acts on Parts information improvement opportunities.

Project leadership: Drives accountability to deliver accurate and complete Parts information. High focus on improving process efficiency and increasing the value of the1 technical information provided to dealers and customers.

Effective Communications: Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient. Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own performance effectiveness. Independently makes oral presentations and written reports needed for own work. Leads meetings and teams effectively.

Data Gathering & Analysis: Participates in gathering and analyzing Parts information business data. Utilizes data to identify problems and reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Identifies and reports problems that arise in the data collection process.

Problem Solving: Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of everyone involved. Works with all stakeholders to address critical issues and resolve major problems.
