Job Purpose:

To ensure smooth operation of all welding processes including manual and robotic welding, by setting correct parameters, developing programs, maintaining quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in welding operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Robotic Welding Operations

  • Develop, edit, and troubleshoot ROBO welding programs.
  • Set up and calibrate robotic welding equipment and fixtures as per job requirements.
  • Monitor and improve robot cycle time, accuracy, and weld quality.
  • Ensure fixture alignment and coordinate with maintenance for preventive upkeep.

2. Welding Process & Setting

  • Set and optimize welding parameters (current, voltage, speed, gas flow, wire feed, etc.) for MIG / MAG / TIG / Spot welding.
  • Conduct welding trials and validate welding processes for new components.
  • Prepare and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Process Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Ensure adherence to standard welding procedures and quality norms (ISO / IATF / customer standards).

3. Quality & Inspection Support

  • Coordinate with Quality team to analyze welding defects and implement corrective & preventive actions.
  • Conduct weld penetration and macro tests to validate settings.
  • Support in resolving in-process and customer quality complaints related to welding.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Kaizen / 5S / TPM activities in the welding area.
  • Suggest design and process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce rework.
  • Train operators and robot welders on standard welding practices and safety.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily welding reports, parameter records, and robot maintenance logs.
  • Support in process audits and documentation as per IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
