
Technical Content Team Leader

Zucol is seeking an experienced Technical Content Team Leader to guide a skilled team of assessment content creators. This role ensures that all expert-developed assessments are meticulously aligned with marking rubrics, academic standards, and project deliverables. The ideal candidate blends strong leadership with deep technical understanding of academic assessment design.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Lead the technical and academic review of assessment items to ensure strict alignment with marking rubrics and institutional standards.
- Coordinate and participate in rubric standardisation sessions, ensuring all team members understand and apply them consistently.
- Oversee marking sample reviews, mentor team content creators, and ensure consistency in assessment item interpretation and scoring.
- Track and report on assessment quality metrics (e.g., rubric alignment accuracy, consistency, timeliness).
Content Development & Process Management
- Supervise content development workflows, ensuring fidelity to marking rubrics, adherence to quality control, and timely completion.
- Translate rubric standards into concrete development guidelines and assess the feasibility of expert-created content.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among content experts, SMEs, and the Team's managers.
- Lead rubric validation sessions, range-finding exercises, and ensure assessments meet both pedagogical and technical criteria.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Provide strong mentorship, professional development, and performance feedback to the technical content team.
- Proactively identify challenges (e.g., rubric ambiguity, content misalignment) and implement corrective training or process improvements.
- Promote continuous improvement through post-assessment reviews and feedback loops, enhancing rubric clarity and team effectiveness—drawing from global best practices.
- Manage assessment project schedules, resources, and deliverables within scope and budget.
Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination
- Regularly update senior leadership on assessment alignment progress, team performance, and key quality indicators.
- Represent Zucol in client-facing or stakeholder meetings, explaining technical alignment strategies and rubric rationales.
- Collaborate with evaluation teams to ensure assessment validity, reliability, and fairness.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in assessment content development or academic assessment design, with at least 1 years in a supervisory or leadership role—parallels found in roles like Senior content writer/Subject matter expert (1+ years content experience, 1+ years leadership).
- Experience within academic assessment contexts such as standardized tests, university exams, or curriculum evaluation.
Technical & Domain Expertise:
- Deep understanding of rubric-based marking systems, assessment design standards, and academic quality assurance.
- Experience translating marking criteria into actionable content guidelines.
- Familiarity with assessment development tools, workflows, or platforms.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team.
- Outstanding communication skills—with ability to explain complex technical standards to various stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized in managing multiple assessment streams.
- Collaborative mindset with adaptability in fast-paced academic environments.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Rubric alignment accuracy: percentage of assessment items meeting rubric criteria on first review.
- Marking consistency: variance in scores across reviewers or creators.
- Delivery timeliness: adherence to content development schedules and milestones.
- Team development: improvements in team proficiency, feedback quality, and process knowledge.
- Stakeholder satisfaction regarding technical alignment and content reliability.
