Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Scala Developer with hands-on expertise in Akka and Play Framework to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in functional programming, scalable application development, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications using Scala, Akka, and Play Framework.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other developers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
  • Implement APIs and integrations with external systems.
  • Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and contribute to code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues promptly.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and estimation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Scala programming language.
  • Hands-on experience with Akka (Actors, Streams, Clustering) and Play Framework.
  • Strong understanding of functional programming concepts and concurrency.
  • Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Familiarity with build tools such as SBT or Maven.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn emerging technologies.

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
