- Preparing and cooking authentic Indian dishes, such as curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, and regional specialties
- Developing new recipes while maintaining the quality and authenticity of traditional Indian cuisine
- Working with other kitchen staff to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently
- Ensuring that all dishes are cooked well and presented attractively
- Overseeing food preparation and checking that all kitchen staff are performing their duties
- Monitoring equipment quality and ordering new equipment as needed
- Helping the restaurant determine how much food and supplies need to be ordered
- Training new kitchen staff
- Studying recipes, setting up menus, and preparing high-quality dishes
- Delegating tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner
- Being familiar with sanitation regulations
