Responsibilities

1. Format legal documents and other documents: Format pleadings and supporting documents, etc, as per practice notes issued by Courts from time to time and also format contracts, agreements, correspondence, etc, as per generally accepted guidelines for registration;

2. Ensure accuracy and consistency: Ensure accuracy and consistency in formatting legal documents, following established formatting and citation guidelines;

3. Transcribe documents: Take dictation from advocates and transcribe into written form accurately and efficiently;

4. Proofread and edit documents: Proofread and edit typed documents for formatting errors;

5. Manage and organize files: Manage and organize electronic documents for easy retrieval and reference;

6. Assist with administrative tasks: Assist Advocates and staff with administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, printing, scanning, etc;

7. Stay updated on legal terminology: Stay updated on legal terminology, procedures, and industry standards to ensure accurate transcription and typing of legal documents; and

8. Maintain confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive legal information.

Qualifications:

1. Experience: Prior experience as a typist, preferably with a law firm or in a legal environment, with excellent typing speed and accuracy;

2. Software proficiency: Proficiency in using word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc;

3. Legal familiarity: Familiarity with legal terminology, formats, and citation styles preferred;

4. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, Hindi and Marathi;

5. Adaptability: Adaptability and willingness to learn new software and procedures as required by the firm; and

6. Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive legal information.
