We are currently recruiting for a Mainframe Tech Lead. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and implementation of mainframe applications within the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VSAM, COBOL, and implementation processes, and will excel in critical scenarios involving complex file movements. A thorough understanding of the banking domain and ACH is essential, along with the ability to efficiently resolve high-stakes situations.

What does a successful Mainframe Tech Lead do?

• Monitor and Maintain Applications: Ensure applications are running smoothly, monitor performance, and address any issues that arise.
• User and Security Administration: Manage user access and security settings to ensure data integrity and security.
• Incident and Problem Management: Respond to and resolve application-related incidents and problems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, IT support, and other stakeholders to ensure applications meet business needs.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of application configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Automation: Implement automation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Compliance and Standards: Ensure applications comply with organizational policies, standards, and best practices.

What you will do:

• Develop, maintain, and support mainframe applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Manage CA7 scheduling for job automation and monitoring.
• Provide production support, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues to ensure minimal downtime.
• Implement application enhancements meeting defined scope, target dates, and budgets with minimal or no defects.
• Maintain and support critical payment processing applications of high complexity by providing rotational 24x7 support, including responding to incident alerts in a timely manner according to various priorities.
• Develop processes and procedures to improve time to resolution and the efficiency of the support team.
• Participate in operational readiness key performance initiatives and measure the effectiveness of both production releases and client onboarding activities.
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to correct recurring issues.
• Provide clear verbal and written communication to internal and external groups.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior developers.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

What you will need to have:

• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, Endevor, File Manager, File Aid, and CA7 scheduling.
• Experience in the banking domain and production support.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible work schedules – outside of normal business hours (shifts, weekends).
• Knowledge of automation tools and practices like REX, UI Path.
