POSITION : RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER
REPORTING TO : INTENSIVIST/ ANESTHESIST
QUALIFICATION : MBBS / Diploma in Critical Care / Emergency Medicine
EXPERIENCE : ICU Experience of minimum 2 years
DRESS CODE : SPECIFIED DRESS CODE WITH I.D. CARD
DUTY HOURS : AS PER SCHEDULED REQUIREMENTS
JOB DESCRIPTION
Key areas of responsibility:
- To be available on duty at least 15 minutes prior so that a proper handling-over/taking over can take place between you and the doctor being relieved. Providing full report to RMO commencing the next shift.
- Attend ICU rounds with concerned nursing staff, as required, and be available to discuss patient treatment plans with the treating team.
- Accompanying consultants during rounds and implementation of all orders as per the treatment planned by the concerned consultants.
- Checking and recording of vitals, examining the Input-Output Chart and the BP-Pulse Temperature chart & to check that the records are being maintained correctly of all patients assigned.
Perform and assisting in clinical procedures such as Intubation, Central line Insertion lumbar Puncture, Arterial Line Placement etc. as requested by consultant and nursing staff.
Recording History, observations of the patient, in their files such as Intervention and Prognosis in Progress Notes legibly and chronologically and endorse your signature with date time and stamp.
To go through the treatment chart carefully to ensure the correctness of medicines being ordered and route of its administration has been entered correctly in the treatment sheet.
In case of chest pain, HT, Epigastric Discomfort ECG to be done on priority basis reported to physician
Informing the hospital management immediately before admitting any serious patient.
- In case of any unstable patient vitals and medicines should be checked regularly unless the patient is stabilized.
In case of emergency ABG /Sugar / ECG should be done on priority basis.
Check the Consultant-in-charge informed about all the condition of the patients.
While handling an MLC patient/records ensuring that all legal documents importance are maintained properly that it should stand the requirements of the authorities. Ensuring that all the legal records/documents are maintained properly white handling MLC patient.
Training of the paramedical staff at the nursing stations or regular on job trainings on critical care procedures and policies
Assisting in preparation of discharge summary of patients and other relevant documents.
Arranging and following up of lab reports of patients and implementing change in treatment in consultation with the treating consultant.
Providing regular updates and information to patient and their families regarding change in patient clinical condition, treatment plan, and potential outcome.
Participate Actively in management of Medical Emergencies
Participate actively in Quality Improvement Plans and Clinical Audits as and when required.
Available on call for urgent intervention when not available physically on duty.
Any other task assigned by management.
