Job Purpose:
The OT nurse is responsible for the nursing care and management of the unit assigned. She/ he is also responsible for planning organizing and implementing day-to-day operations including assigning work for various categories of nursing and non - nursing staff working in the unit. The OT nurse handles patient management and also provide safety and comfort to the patients.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement care plans for surgical patients
- Evaluate surgical patients prior to surgery and in postoperative phases
- Prepare patients for surgery by disinfecting their skin at the operation site and positioning them on the operating table
- Assist surgeon during procedures with duties such as passing medical equipment and monitoring patients' vital signs
- Provide patients with preoperative care in procedure, operating, and recovery rooms
- Collaborating with surgical teams and other medical professionals on patient medication and post-surgery care.
- Educate patients / other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of postoperative care
- Ensure that the operating room runs smoothly and is stocked with all necessary surgical supplies and equipment
- Assisting with the ordering, maintenance, and safe storage of surgical equipment and supplies Apply aseptic and sterile techniques to medical instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery
- Ensure the implementation of the hospital policies, rules, regulations and OT Update patient files and medical records
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards
Job Specifications:
- Qualification: B.Sc/ M.Sc/ GNM in nursing or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing administration post qualification and Proven experience as operating room nurse (circulating and scrub)
- Technical Skills / Job related skills: In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures, Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques, Record Management, high standard of patient care, knowledge in the latest and best practices in nursing field. Possess a high level of emotional intelligence
- Management Skills: Be a good team player while leading by example, maintain good people relations and maintain a positive attitude.
- Communication Skills: Good command over English and Kannada, exhibit good listening skills with an ability to display empathy and provide advice.
