Accounts Receivable Manager

The role in a gist:

The Manager – Finance (Revenue) will oversee and manage the revenue accounting, recognition, reconciliation, and reporting processes for various business lines, including Direct Assignments (DA), Co-lending, and Supply Chain Finance (SFC). This role requires a deep understanding of fintech products, revenue models, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.

What you will work on:

• Manage and oversee revenue recognition in compliance with applicable accounting standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely closure of monthly and annual books of accounts.
• Handle multiple revenue streams specific to fintech, including commission income, interest income, service fees, co-lending revenue, direct assignment (DA) revenue, supply chain finance (SFC) revenue, and other structured finance products.
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing to lenders, partners, and customers. Monitor receivables ageing, drive proactive collections, and ensure timely accounting of receipts.
• Record revenue accruals at month-end accurately for services rendered but not yet invoiced. Create provisions for expected shortfalls or adjustments based on business updates and contracts.
• Prepare detailed reconciliations between the Loan Management System (LMS), ERP systems, and banking records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Analyze monthly revenue trends, identify variances versus budgets/forecasts, prepare revenue dashboards, and present actionable insights to senior management and business teams.
• Lead initiatives to automate revenue recognition, invoicing, and reconciliation processes through ERP enhancements, RPA tools, and fintech-specific platforms, reducing manual interventions.
• Work closely with Business, Operations, Product, Tech, and Legal teams to evaluate the financial impact of new product launches, changes in pricing strategies, discount programs, and contract structuring.
• Act as the point of contact for statutory auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory inspections for revenue-related matters. Prepare audit schedules, revenue workings, and respond to audit queries timely and accurately.
• Review customer, lender, and partner contracts for financial terms to assess revenue recognition impacts, identify performance obligations, and document judgments in line with accounting policies.
• Monitor deferred revenue accounts, ensure accurate amortization over service periods, and review adjustments needed due to service changes, contract modifications, or early terminations.
• Design, implement, and periodically update SOPs related to revenue processes.
• Maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risks of revenue leakage, misstatements, or non-compliance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning by providing inputs on revenue projections, sensitivity analyses, and scenario modelling based on business pipeline and historical trends.
• Conduct periodic revenue assurance checks to validate completeness, accuracy, and legitimacy of reported revenues. Flag anomalies and work with business owners to address gaps.
• Stay updated on changes in financial reporting, taxation, and regulatory requirements impacting fintech revenues, and proactively adjust accounting practices and policies.
• Train and mentor junior finance team members on revenue processes, accounting standards, and compliance expectations to build a strong second line of defence.

Qualification and Experience:

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance.
• 5–7 years of experience in revenue accounting or financial reporting, preferably in a fintech or tech-led company.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and financial regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools such as Ms Excel, Tally, Ms Word, Ms Power point, etc.
