Devops Engineer

Overview:

Working in an agile software development environment, the CI/CD Automation Engineer is responsible for automating the build-test-deploy lifecycle for a wide variety of applications. The engineer will be part of the DevOps team, contributing to platform service enhancements and multiple automation projects. This role involves collaboration with Development, IT Operations, and QA teams, both onshore and offshore, and focuses on implementing software configuration management best practices to accelerate and optimize delivery methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead CI/CD automation efforts for Cotiviti applications and support their migration to a containerized environment using RedHat OpenShift.
• Maintain tools and processes for enterprise-level systems in a fast-paced, agile, service-oriented environment.
• Administer and manage enterprise-wide development tools: Bitbucket/Git, Jenkins, Nexus, OpenShift, and SonarQube.
• Automate build, packaging, testing, and deployment processes using appropriate tools and scripts.
• Manage continuous integration and deployment pipelines for multiple products and initiatives.
• Collaborate with release teams to implement flexible release strategies (weekly, biweekly, monthly).
• Automate end-to-end build processes, patching, and production product deployments.
• Structure and maintain software configuration management systems ensuring high security and availability.
• Scale infrastructure to meet increasing demand, and monitor site stability and performance.
• Build and maintain a resilient, secure, and efficient SaaS application platform to meet established SLAs.
• Provide development teams with support for the automated infrastructure; collaborate to bring new features into production.
• Understand full-stack software development (databases, services, REST, client-side, UI).
• Partner with Delivery teams to develop solutions for enterprise automation across business lines.
• Set up lower-level and production environments, including application and tool deployment.
• Drive automation and best practices for code management and DevOps processes.
• Guide teams on DevOps best practices, focusing on scalability, performance, reliability, and speed to market.
• Liaise with leadership and architecture teams to plan and resolve deployment tasks and challenges.

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

• Bachelors degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 6+ years of overall IT experience with 4+ years in DevOps and CI/CD implementation.
• Hands-on experience with containerization platforms: RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or AWS EKS.
• Strong background in deployment automation and orchestration platforms (e.g., Jenkins).
• Proficient in version control systems: Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• Experience with configuration management tools: Chef, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Puppet.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and container technologies such as AWS EC2 and Docker.
• Proficient in scripting languages like Groovy, Python, and Jenkins DSL.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
• Strong knowledge of code repository management and DevOps best practices.
• Basic understanding of Java in both web and thick client applications.
• Experience with enterprise Oracle DB deployments.
• Familiarity with SAFe Agile development principles.
• Proficient with project management tools: JIRA, Confluence.
