Job Description of Data Centre Engineer
This position serves as the primary operational resource to support Vertiv operated Data Centers. This position will provide service operation support for the overall 'hands-on' management of the Electrical, (M&E) and across Vertiv's portfolio of Data Centers in India. This position will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations. It will also include event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and cost/contract management. In addition, this will include the relationship management with the landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction team, Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, Security team, and Logistics team in India. The position will require 24x7 on-call, scheduled weekend work support. The location for this job to be discussed, as there may be opportunities in customer premises.

Primary responsibilities and SME fields include, but are not limited to:

Operations And Maintenance
Accomplishes electrical engineering human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

Achieves electrical engineering operational objectives by contributing electrical engineering information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining administrative system improvements; implementing change.

Meets electrical engineering financial objectives by forecasting electrical engineering requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Develops strategic electrical plans by studying operational plans; studying existing conditions; determining needs to accomplish operational plans; mapping solutions; updating and modifying requirements and solutions; preparing cost estimates and budgets.

Plans electrical projects by determining specifications; selecting contractors; establishing installation schedules; planning shut-downs and installations; integrating requirements with architectural and mechanical designs; verifying code requirements; updating cost estimates.

Completes electrical projects by supervising installations; resolving design issues.

Maintains electrical systems by establishing and enforcing preventive and on-going maintenance, and testing programs; scheduling repairs; coordinating shut-downs and installations.

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with codes and legal regulations.

Updates job knowledge by remaining current on codes and requirements; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 04 years' experience post degree completion, Min. 02 years, out of his experience he should have relevant experience of Data Center operations & facilities Management & on Supervisory role.
• A Graduate Degree in a technical field (Electrical Engg.).
• An excellent understanding on the nature of mission critical systems (Data Centers, Hospitals, Power plants, facilities, etc.).
• The candidate needs to be a self-starter and independent worker.
• Ability to solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
• Previous vendor negotiation and management skills for Data Center and/or upgrade construction contracts.
• Ability to write and review accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
• Shows good judgment and instincts in decision making under pressure.
• Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment.
• Proactively and continually improve his/her level of knowledge about Vertiv's business and relevant technologies.
• Able to demonstrate his/her ability to take ownership of technical issues brought to him/her by his/her customer base. If the candidate is unable to resolve certain issues by themselves, he/she should demonstrate a willingness to actively engage other support teams to drive it to resolution.

An interest in work subject matter that ensures that the teams are kept abreast of all relevant industry standards changes and innovation practices.
