The
SEO Team Lead (TL)
is a strategic and tactical leader responsible for defining, driving, and executing the overall organic search strategy. This role requires an expert balance of technical SEO proficiency, strong analytical skills, and proven leadership ability to mentor a team and ensure the successful delivery of organic growth targets.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. SEO Strategy & Planning
- Strategic Roadmap:
 Develop and own the comprehensive organic search strategy, defining annual and quarterly goals, key priorities, and tactical roadmaps across technical, content, and off-page SEO.
- Prioritization:
 Lead the SEO project backlog, rigorously prioritizing initiatives based on potential impact, resource requirements, and overall business objectives.
- Innovation: 
 Stay ahead of search engine updates (e.g., Core Web Vitals, LLM/AI shifts) and proactively implement innovative strategies to maintain competitive advantage.
- Team Leadership & Management 
- Mentorship & Coaching: 
 Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of 3-5 SEO Specialists/Analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Workflow Oversight:
 Manage the daily workflow, performance objectives, and resource allocation within the team, ensuring project timelines are met with high quality.
- Performance Reviews: 
 Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and defining clear development paths for team members.
- Advanced Technical & Execution Oversight 
- Technical Authority: 
 Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all technical SEO matters. Lead and conduct deep-dive audits (site architecture, crawl budget optimization, server-side issues, rendering).
- Implementation & QA:
 Translate complex technical audit findings into clear, prioritized, and actionable development tickets (e.g., in Jira or Azure DevOps). Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on all SEO implementations post-deployment.
- Tool Mastery: 
 Maintain expert proficiency and governance over critical SEO tools (e.g., Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush, Log File Analyzers).
- Reporting & Stakeholder Communication 
- Performance Reporting: 
 Oversee the creation and delivery of detailed, data-driven performance reports, translating complex analytics (using GA4, GSC) into clear, concise business insights for senior management.
- Cross-Functional Alignment:
 Collaborate effectively with Development, Content, Product, and Marketing teams, ensuring organizational alignment on SEO best practices and shared goals.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience:
 5+ years
 of dedicated SEO experience, with a minimum of
 2+ years
 in a
 leadership, management, or mentorship role
 .
- Technical Depth:
 Expert knowledge of
 HTML, CSS, JavaScript (as it pertains to SEO rendering)
 , server-side configurations, and site speed optimization techniques.
- Analytics Proficiency:
 Highly proficient in
 Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
 , Google Tag Manager (GTM), and advanced data visualization techniques.
- Core Competencies:
 Exceptional strategic thinking, complex problem-solving abilities, and robust presentation skills for engaging executive-level audiences.
- Education:
 Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a quantitative field is preferred.
