CSIR - National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) is India's first and largest aerospace research firm, established by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 1959. Based in Bengaluru, India, NAL employs a staff of about 2,500, including 350 full-time R&D professionals. NAL collaborates closely with HAL, DRDO, and ISRO, focusing on advanced aerospace research and the development of civilian aircraft in India. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as the Nilakantan Wind Tunnel Centre, NAL is a leader in aerospace engineering research and failure investigation.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site PhD position in the Materials Science Division at CSIR - National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), located in Bengaluru. The role involves conducting advanced research in materials science, particularly those applicable to aerospace engineering. Daily tasks include experimental work, data analysis, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, preparing technical reports, and contributing to academic publications. The candidate will also be expected to present their research findings at conferences and seminars.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Materials Science and Aerospace Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with experimental research and data analysis
  • Proficiency in using software tools commonly used in materials science research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to comprehensive research and contributing to academic publications
  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Any relevant research experience or publications in peer-reviewed journals would be advantageous
