Job Title: Tableau Lead/ Architect Specialist

Location: Mumbai, India

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Tableau Architect Specialist to lead and establish best practices for the enterprise Tableau platform, which will be tightly integrated with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP 7.1). The candidate will be responsible for overseeing system architecture, high-performance setup, naming conventions, connection optimization, and guiding Tableau developers on design, performance, and scaling strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement enterprise-grade Tableau environments for high availability, scalability, and optimized performance.
  • Define and enforce best practices for Tableau setup, configuration, dashboard development, folder structures, security models, and naming conventions.
  • Manage seamless Tableau connectivity with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP 7.1) ensuring performance optimization and stability.
  • Guide development teams on Tableau best practices, focusing on data modeling, performance tuning, extract strategies, and in-memory optimization (current term: Hyper Extracts, replacing old Tableau Data Extracts).
  • Establish governance around Tableau Server, licensing models, content organization, and user access control.
  • Monitor Tableau Server health, resource usage, and performance metrics; recommend and implement tuning improvements.
  • Serve as a Tableau evangelist for the organization, mentoring and upskilling internal Tableau development teams on dashboard efficiency, query optimization, and visualization best practices.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to ensure optimized data pipelines, queries, and data models supporting Tableau use cases.
  • Ensure alignment with overall cloud and big data architecture standards.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 7-15 years of overall experience in reporting, BI, and analytics, with at least 4 - 5 years specialized in Tableau platform architecture and administration.
  • Deep expertise in Tableau Systems Architecture, Tableau Server, Tableau Online, Tableau Prep, and Hyper Extracts.
  • Proven experience connecting Tableau with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP 7.1) and managing large data volume performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of networking, authentication (SAML, LDAP), permissions models, and security configuration within Tableau.
  • Ability to guide and mentor developers on building efficient, scalable, and high-performing Tableau dashboards and extracts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Tableau Server, workbooks, extracts, and live connections.
  • Excellent understanding of in-memory processing, data extracts, incremental refreshes, and query tuning.
  • Knowledge of resource management, server clustering, and load balancing concepts for Tableau deployments.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Tableau Certified Associate Architect / Certified Server Professional
  • Any certification related to Cloudera Data Platform or Big Data Systems is a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities to engage with development and leadership teams.
  • Proactive, hands-on problem solver with strong attention to detail and process-driven mindset.
  • Ability to document architectures, operational procedures, and training material for users and administrators.
