Urgent Requirement for CSSD Department

Designation: Junior Officer / Officer

Experience: 0 to 1 year.

Location : Andheri West

Qualification : BSc

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Decontamination:
  • Receive soiled instruments and equipment from various hospital departments.
  • Disassemble, sort, and manually clean instruments according to manufacturer's instructions and established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment, including ultrasonic cleaners and automated washer-disinfectors, ensuring proper chemical and biological solutions are used.

  • Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines to minimize exposure to blood borne pathogens and other contaminants.

  • Inspection, Assembly, and Packaging:

  • Inspect all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and integrity (e.g., cracks, corrosion, sharpness).
  • Perform functional testing of instruments and report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment.
  • Assemble instrument sets and trays accurately according to established count sheets and protocols.
  • Package instruments and supplies using appropriate sterilization wraps, pouches, and containers, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.

· Storage and Distribution:

  • Store sterilized items in designated sterile storage areas, maintaining proper rotation (first-in, first-out).
  • Maintain organized inventory records of sterilized items and ensure timely restocking of supplies.
  • Prepare and deliver sterile instrument sets and supplies to operating rooms, OPD and other patient care units as requested.

  • Manage and track reusable medical devices, ensuring their availability and proper reprocessing.

  • Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to sterilization and infection control.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including routine checks and audits of instruments stock of user department.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to strict infection prevention and control measures.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSSD processes.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate effectively with surgical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Communicate any issues with instrument quality, equipment malfunctions, or supply shortages to the supervisor.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-service training programs.

  • Sterilization:

  • Operate various sterilization equipment, including steam sterilizers (autoclaves), low-temperature sterilizers (e.g., ethylene oxide, hydrogen peroxide plasma), and dry heat sterilizer.
  • Monitor sterilization cycles, ensuring proper parameters (time, temperature and pressure) are met.
  • Perform daily biological and chemical indicator tests for all sterilizers and accurately record results.
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report major issues to supervisors.
