AWS & Gen AI Architect - Product Engineering

Role Purpose :

We are seeking two highly experienced architects to take on the role of AWS & Gen AI Architect within our Product Engineering organisation. In this role you will lead the architecture and design of cloud-native solutions and generative AI capabilities, supporting our product engineering teams to build next-generation services.

You will act as a key technical advisor, driving cloud adoption (AWS primarily, but GCP/Azure background is advantageous) and generative artificial intelligence (LLMs, OpenAI, LangChain, etc). You will partner across engineering, product, data science, security and operations to create scalable, secure and intelligent systems.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define, own and evolve the cloud architecture roadmap for product engineering : evaluating AWS, GCP, Azure platforms and recommending optimal solutions.

- Design and implement reference architectures for generative AI (GenAI) use cases large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows, LangChain frameworks, OpenAI integration, etc.

- Act as the lead individual contributor (IC Architect) for cloud and GenAI : designing reliable, performant, cost-efficient systems.

- Collaborate with product engineering, data science and infrastructure teams to integrate GenAI capabilities into product workflows.

- Lead technical reviews and governance across cloud and AI architecture : ensure compliance, scalability, security and operational excellence.

- Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices for cloud infrastructure, serverless computing, containerisation, microservices, IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and GenAI tooling.

- Provide technical leadership for proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and pilot projects in GenAI evaluate emerging models, frameworks and platforms, and drive productionisation.

- Define and monitor architecture KPIs system availability, performance, cost optimisation, AI model latency, data throughput, security posture.

- Act as a stakeholder liaison : present architecture decisions, roadmaps and trade-offs to senior leadership, product owners and cross-functional teams.

- Stay on top of the rapidly evolving GenAI and cloud ecosystem; propose and evangelise new technologies to maintain our competitive edge.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 10 to 15 years of experience in enterprise engineering, architecture or cloud-native roles.

- Deep hands-on expertise in design and architecture on one or more major cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP and/or Azure also acceptable).

- Strong experience with generative AI : designing, implementing and deploying solutions using LLMs, OpenAI APIs, LangChain, agentic workflows.

- Demonstrated ability as an individual contributor architect (IC Architect) in a product engineering context (PE, GL, HCL or equivalent).

- Strong understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, microservices, containerisation (Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.

- Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK) and automation of cloud deployments.

- Good grasp of data architecture, data lakes, data pipelines, integrations and ML/AI workflows.

- Track record of mentoring engineering teams and influencing architecture decisions across multiple disciplines (cloud, infra, AI, data).

- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to articulate architecture trade-offs, prepare technical documentation and present to senior stakeholders.

- A strategic mindset plus hands-on technical proficiency : you must both design the architecture and work through complex implementation challenges.

- Preferred : Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, etc), experience in highly regulated or large-scale product engineering organisations.
