Manager - Structure Design (Transmission Tower Design)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Structural Design & Analysis

  • Lead structural design and analysis of lattice towers (self-supporting, guyed, and monopole types) for EHV/UHV transmission lines (132 kV to 765 kV and above).
  • Perform load calculations as per IS/IEC/ASCE/PGCIL standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Finalize tower configuration, bracing system, and member sizing considering wind, seismic, and loading conditions.
  • Review and validate design calculations using software tools (STAAD.Pro / PLS-Tower / SAP2000).
  • Conduct optimization studies for material reduction and cost efficiency.

2. Design Documentation & Drawings

  • Oversee preparation and checking of GA drawings, shop drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly drawings.
  • Ensure compatibility between structural design and foundation design.
  • Approve design deliverables before issue to fabrication or client.
  • Coordinate with drafting teams for accuracy and completeness of drawings.

3. Technical Coordination

  • Interface with clients, consultants, and internal project teams for design approvals and clarifications.
  • Provide technical inputs to procurement, fabrication, and construction teams during project execution.
  • Participate in design review meetings and resolve technical queries promptly.

4. Standardization & Quality

  • Develop and implement standard design templates, design manuals, and checklists.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and QMS procedures.
  • Conduct design validation, peer reviews, and audit checks.

5. Team Management

  • Guide and mentor design engineers and draftsmen in structural analysis and detailing.
  • Allocate work, review performance, and ensure timely delivery of design outputs.
  • Identify training needs and enhance team technical capabilities.

6. Support to Tendering & Proposals

  • Provide preliminary designs, tower weights, and technical inputs during bid estimation and proposal preparation.
  • Evaluate client tender specifications and highlight deviations or optimization opportunities. Proven exposure to EHV/UHV projects (220 kV to 765 kV or higher). Structural analysis software: STAAD.Pro, PLS-Tower, SAP2000

    Drafting tools: AutoCAD / MicroStation / Tekla (preferred)
