About the Role

Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our team as a Lead Software Engineer.
A candidate placed in this position will be a leader in the Networking and Connectivity Solutions Software Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market, including Ethernet switches and PHYs.

Were looking for a technically strong software engineer and leader who can develop embedded C software for Ethernet switch and PHY APIs while providing a critical lead role within the team. Prior management experience is not required but desirable. An ideal candidate has experience leading technical efforts and is eager to grow into a larger management role.

Team Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain OS-agnostic C APIs for Ethernet switches, PHYs, and evaluation boards.
• Focus on low-level driver and API layers interfacing directly with hardware.
• Deliver APIs that support both internal turnkey solutions and external customer integrations.
• Ensure compliance with safety-critical industry standards and coding guidelines.
• Strong focus on continuous development of the automated test platform.

Key Responsibilities Managerial Responsibilities

• Support and enable your team to work efficiently and escalate issues when needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, support, and development to align priorities and plan future work.
• Facilitate technical discussions and solicit input from your team and peers.

Technical Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of embedded C APIs.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Help onboard and mentor new team members and share technical knowledge.

Requirements/Qualifications: Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C and embedded software development.
• Experience working close to hardware (drivers, APIs).
• Desire to grow into a management role; prior experience as a lead programmer is a plus.
• Comfortable working in regulated environments with safety and quality standards.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Must be capable of managing a small team of individual contributors, reporting status, and delivering to project teams on firm timelines.
• Work with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Applications Engineering to develop new products.
• Work with internal teams to replicate platform-level issues.
• Manage resolution of software issues found during the product life cycle.

About Microchip Denmark

Microchip Denmark is an R&D site located in Herlev, home to a team of 35 engineers developing Ethernet network switches for Enterprise, Industrial, and Automotive markets. The site covers all engineering disciplinesfrom initial product definition and RTL design to software development, reference systems, and technical support.

Microchip Denmark is part of Microchips Network Connectivity Solutions (NCS) business unit, which includes engineering sites worldwide. Our team plays a key role in delivering innovative networking solutions across global markets.
