Paint Technologist

Role & responsibilities

• Hands on experience of pigment/carbon black dispersion techniques.
• Knowledge of process methods/techniques used in the manufacture of paint, ink & coating.
• Knowledge of formulations based on types of liquid application and loading of pigment/carbon black.
• Properly operate all the equipment and lab apparatus in a safe and clean manner.
• Independently conducts application testing of various products according to standard test methods.
• Accurately records, organizes, and communicates results/data from experiments and testing.
• Performs necessary analysis of data, draws conclusions based on testing results and makes recommendations of products for customers.
• Effectively participates in troubleshooting and technical support for process team, sales team, and customers.
• Comply with safety regulations and properly maintain lab areas, storage areas and equipment.
• Responsible for following all applicable waste handling procedures.
• Provide technical training to others.
• Performs short- and long-term research assignments related to new product development, characterization, and laboratory testing.
• Follow all related ASTM & DIN standards.
• Develop color measurement methodology and techniques.
• Develop and understanding of technical challenges and provide solutions to overcome problems.
• Accountability for the fulfilment of innovation, product development and customer service.

Preferred candidate profile

• B.Sc. degree (or higher) in chemistry/paint technology, Diploma in Paint Technology, B. Tech. in Paint Technology and/or relevant industrial experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a related industry or paint/coating industry, etc.
• Knowledge of color management, principle of colour and appearance measurement, colour space, colour characterization, colour properties evaluation, pigment properties and computer algorithm will be highly desired.
• Proactive and work independently.
• Good project management skills and problem-solving skills.
• Strong laboratory skills and ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work on cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
• Hands-on responsibility for implementing systematic recording of research results and technical projects.
• Highly adaptable to a fast paced, dynamic environment and ability to perform under pressure.
• Ability to effectively work on individual efforts with moderate supervision and in a team environment.
• Work experience in paint/coatings/ink/adhesive/carbon black/pigment industries is preferred.
