Physician Assistant

Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations for oncology patients.
Assess and manage oncologic conditions and treatment-related symptoms (e.g., neutropenia, anemia, nausea, pain, infections).
Review and interpret labs, imaging, biopsy results, and tumor markers.
Participate in development and modification of treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
Conduct follow-up visits, survivorship assessments, and palliative/supportive care evaluations.
Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, cellular therapy, or hormonal therapy.
Recognize and manage infusion reactions, immune-related adverse events, and oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, spinal cord compression, and febrile neutropenia.
Adjust supportive medications (antiemetics, growth factors, analgesics, antibiotics) under approved protocols.
Bone marrow biopsy/aspiration
Lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy administration
Paracentesis
Thoracentesis
Central line care (PICC, port access)
Wound evaluation and management
Collaborate with nurses, social workers, nutritionists, palliative care, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, and home-care instructions.
Facilitate communication during tumor boards, care conferences, and team huddles.
Provide accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Admit, round on, and manage oncology inpatients, including those with complications of treatment.
Respond to rapid responses and emergent oncologic conditions.
Coordinate discharge planning and transitions of care.
Manage follow-up visits, infusion center evaluations, and urgent oncology issues.
Perform pre-chemotherapy evaluations and clearance.
Support survivorship programs and long-term monitoring for late effects.
Adhere to oncology protocols, chemotherapy safety standards, and institutional guidelines.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical pathway development, and patient safety programs.
Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ONS, ASCO, institutional chemotherapy policies).
