1. Batch Job Management (Dollar Universe/ Control M)

  • Monitor and manage Dollar Universe jobs, sessions, uprocs, and dependencies.
  • Troubleshoot job failures, delays, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Perform job restarts, reruns, and manual interventions as needed.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to L3 or vendor support.

2. Linux System Administration

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on Linux OS (RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu).
  • Manage services like DNS, FTP, NFS, LDAP, and mail servers (Postfix, Qmail)
  • Apply OS patches, perform upgrades, and manage system performance
  • Handle server commissioning/decommissioning and infra application installations

3. Incident & Change Management

  • Own and resolve incidents escalated from L1, ensuring SLA compliance
  • Document root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution steps.
  • Implement approved changes, including job modifications and system updates

4. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Use monitoring tools to ensure uptime and performance of Dollar Universe and Linux systems.
  • Generate shift reports and maintain ticketing system logs
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

5. Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for job automation and system tasks.
  • Contribute to automation strategies and deployment processes

6. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work in a 24x7 NOC or support environment.
  • Coordinate with application, database, and infrastructure teams.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and vendors.

Key Skills Required

  • Dollar Universe: Job scheduling, uprocs, sessions, node management.
  • Linux: RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu, systemd, cron, log analysis.
  • Scripting: Bash, Shell, Python (optional).
  • Tools: Ticketing systems (ServiceNow) monitoring tools (Nagvis).
  • Protocols & Services: DNS, NFS, LDAP, FTP, SMTP.
  • Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, communication, documentation, SLA awareness.
