Job Summary:

The Sales Manager for FMCG will be responsible for overseeing and managing the sales activities of the companys consumer goods products within a designated region or market. This includes driving sales growth, developing and maintaining relationships with key customers and partners, and ensuring that the companys products meet consumer demand. The role demands leadership, strategic thinking, and effective team management to achieve sales targets, maximize profitability, and ensure market expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy & Planning:

  2. Develop and implement effective sales strategies and business plans for the FMCG products.

  3. Forecast sales targets and ensure achievement of monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals.
  4. Conduct market analysis to identify new opportunities and areas for growth.

  5. Team Management & Development:

  6. Lead, motivate, and manage a team of sales representatives and executives.

  7. Provide training and guidance to sales teams to improve product knowledge and sales techniques.
  8. Set clear performance expectations and monitor sales team performance through regular reports and reviews.

  9. Customer Relationship Management:

  10. Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, distributors, and customers.

  11. Address customer queries, issues, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  12. Conduct business reviews with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.

  13. Market Penetration & Brand Visibility:

  14. Develop strategies to increase the companys market share within the assigned region.

  15. Ensure product availability, visibility, and shelf space in key retail outlets.
  16. Coordinate with the marketing team for promotional campaigns, discounts, and product launches to enhance brand awareness.

  17. Sales Reporting & Analysis:

  18. Prepare and submit detailed sales reports and forecasts to senior management.

  19. Analyze sales performance, track market trends, and competitor activity.
  20. Recommend pricing strategies and promotional offers based on market conditions and sales data.

  21. Budget Management:

  22. Manage sales budgets effectively, ensuring that costs are controlled while achieving sales targets.

  23. Monitor the allocation of resources for sales operations, ensuring optimal spending for maximum returns.

  24. Cross-Department Collaboration:

  25. Work closely with other departments (marketing, supply chain, finance) to ensure seamless product delivery and customer satisfaction.

  26. Provide feedback to product development and marketing teams about customer preferences and product performance.

  27. Compliance & Reporting:

  28. Ensure all sales activities comply with legal regulations and industry standards.

  29. Keep accurate records of all sales transactions and customer interactions.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (Masters degree or MBA is a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in FMCG sales, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and motivating sales teams to exceed targets.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers, partners, and internal teams effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales figures and market data.
  • Customer-Oriented: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Negotiation Skills: Experience in negotiating deals, contracts, and pricing with distributors and retailers.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using sales software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
