Fitter

Job Summary:

The Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing structural components, machinery, and equipment in ships and shipyard facilities. The role requires interpreting technical drawings, cutting, shaping, and aligning metal components, and ensuring precision in fabrication and installation as per shipbuilding standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications for ship construction.
• Cut, grind, drill, and shape metal parts to required dimensions.
• Fit and assemble structural sections, pipes, and machinery components.
• Ensure alignment, welding preparation, and finishing of ship structures.
• Perform marking, tack welding, and fitting operations as instructed.
• Inspect completed fittings for accuracy, quality, and safety compliance.
• Work closely with welders, fabricators, and engineers during ship assembly.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Adhere to shipyard safety standards and participate in safety drills.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of fitting, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Strong focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications & Experience:

• ITI/Diploma in Fitter/Mechanical or equivalent trade certification.
• 2–5 years of experience as a Fitter in shipbuilding, heavy fabrication, or related industry.
• Knowledge of shipyard safety regulations is an advantage.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18, ₹25,000.00 per month
