Role summary

Hybrid role: Managing the company's patent filing/follow-up and ensuring statutory compliance with SPCB/CPCB/MoEF/ DGFT (as applicable), and EHS processes at manufacturing units.

Key responsibilities: Patent

• Maintain patent docket: assist in drafting, filing, tracking patent families, filing dates, renewals and correspondence with patent attorneys.
• Coordinate internal invention disclosures, organise inventor interviews and prepare technical inputs for filings.
• Manage patent budgets, timelines, and follow up on office actions.
• Maintain confidentiality and IP repository.

Key responsibilities: EHS & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with SPCB/CPCB, Consent to Operate (CTO), hazardous waste rules, Air/Water emission limits, and other state/federal environment rules.
• Prepare, maintain, and update statutory documents: hazardous waste manifests, chemical inventories, MSDS, permit renewals.
• Conduct periodic EHS audits, internal inspections, HIRA, risk assessments, and corrective action tracking.
• Liaise with government agencies, pollution control boards, factory inspectorate and DGFT (for export controls, if applicable).
• Conduct EHS training for shopfloor/staff and support incident investigations.
• Maintain statutory registers, returns (e.g., Form A/B where applicable) and follow up on audit observations.

Must-have

• Graduate in Chemistry / Environmental Science / Mechanical / Chemical / Diploma in EHS or equivalent.
• 2–4 years exposure to patent process (coordination) and EHS compliance preferably in chemicals/minerals/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of SPCB/CPCB rules, hazardous waste handling, CPCB guidance, DGFT licensing basics.
• Good documentation skills and ability to interact with external consultants and authorities.

Nice-to-have

• Prior experience in filing patents (coordination with patent attorneys) for process or product innovations.
• Certification: NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent.

KPIs

• Number of patent filings / prosecution milestones achieved on schedule.
• EHS audit scores, timely renewal of permits, zero major regulatory non-compliances.
• Reduction in incident rates & closure time for non-conformances.
