Role & responsibilities

Autosys Engineer -

Core Technical Skills

  1. Talend Expertise

  2. Strong understanding of Talend Job design and deployment.

  3. Familiarity with TAC job scheduling, triggers, and context parameters.

  4. Experience with Talend job execution monitoring and logs.

  5. AutoSys Expertise

  6. Proficient in creating, configuring, and managing AutoSys jobs (JIL scripting).

  7. Deep knowledge of AutoSys features: job dependencies, calendars, box jobs, and condition handling.

  8. Ability to script and automate AutoSys job creation and management.

  9. Scripting Skills

  10. Shell scripting (Bash/Korn) for UNIX/Linux environments.

  11. Windows batch scripting (if Talend jobs run on Windows).

  12. Optional: Python or Perl for automation tasks.

  13. Job Orchestration and Workflow Mapping

  14. Ability to analyze existing Talend schedules and dependencies.

  15. Skill in mapping these workflows to equivalent AutoSys job structures.

  16. Database and Logging Knowledge

  17. Basic SQL for querying Talend logs or AutoSys job metadata.

  18. Familiarity with RDBMSs like MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.

Good to have,

Experience with migrating schedulers or other batch job platforms.

Familiarity with exporting/importing job metadata or automating the process via

scripts/APIs.

  • Understanding of job failure handling, alerting, and retry mechanisms in both TAC and AutoSys.
  • Experience in testing and validating migrated jobs to ensure reliability.

Project & Documentation Skills

  • Ability to document mappings, exceptions, and migration steps clearly.
  • Use of change management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow) for tracking.
  • Basic project planning and risk management to ensure smooth transition.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication to coordinate with ETL developers, DevOps, and operations teams.
  • Good analytical thinking to detect edge cases and optimize job flow.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving attitude for debugging migration issues.
