Role Summary/Purpose:

Within the team "Plant Operability & Design" the System Engineer takes an important role with respect to overall plant integration of main equipment like GT, HRSG, ST and other main components of the Water/Steam Cycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Plant Operability & Design team has the concept and design responsibility for the water steam cycle as well as for the overall plant integration and the overall plant control. The team duties include issuing operating & control concepts, functional equipment specifications and control narratives for plant control. It serves NPI as well as OTR projects. It performs dynamic simulations and provides ITO support including concept verification and functional guarantee definition.

Within this team the System Engineer has the concept and design responsibility for his area of work. For projects in execution phase, he requires to consider the project specific contractual design requirements, which he aligns with partner and/or customers in coordination with the project management.
For NPI projects the Plant/Product Development Specification forms the base for his work and requires close coordination within the project team and with the Program Manager.

Technical regulations & standards as well as GEV's EHS policy forms part of the plant systems design.

The System Engineer has the technical and time schedule responsibility for his engineering work and/or services within the project, what includes:

  • Verification of the overall cycle concept as well as defining individual BOP system concepts
  • Performing system design calculations and issuing functional equipment specifications
  • Defining operation concepts and issuing logic input for BOP systems and HRSG as well as for Plant start-up and load control
  • Participating software acceptance tests
  • Site support during project commissioning
  • Leading design and cost comparisons on system level for NPI programs

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical Engineering or related disciplines from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • At least 3 years experience in power plant engineering
  • Plant Integration experience in upstream engineering processes like performance calculation, GT or ST technology.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; able to interface effectively within the organization across the different faculties as well as outside the company with Customers and Partners
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
  • OTR experience in mechanical system design
  • Experience in plant control and controls engineering 
  • Being familiar with route cause analysis methodologies for RCA and NCR handling
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills 
  • Fluency in English 
  • Willing to travel
